God Waits for Us...to Speak to Us.

Isaiah speaks on behalf of the Lord to the people.  Isaiah 30:18-22 is both a plea and a promise:

"The Lord must wait for you to come to Him so He can show you His love and compassion for the Lord is a faithful God.  Blessed are those who wait for His help.  Though the Lord gave you adversity...He will still be with you to teach you.  You will see your teacher with your own eyes (WOW), Your own ears will hear Him.  Right behind you a voice will say, 'This is the way you should go,' whether to the right or to the left."

There is so much more that God says through Isaiah--you just don't want to miss it!

Be encouraged,

Becky

  2. Unbelievable how this call pertained to me and answered my cry to God with these feelings I have that I can not explain or comprehend. I too, had not one but two strange encounters with other people this weekend. Can I call Roger and get counseling? (kidding) The first was from my college friend who I travelled far to help at her daughters wedding. She basically chose to use me for the target of her frustration and through a tantrum and anger such venom came out of her mouth, Iwas stunned. The other people at the wedding watching this kept coming up to me and apologizing for her. She apologized and thanked me for my help but I felt myself strangely not able to be comforted. You can understand how the words Becky said today impacted me. God is my comforter and in time will heal this incident.
Then my brother, who is one of my mothers care givers, physically attached me over me wanting the checkbook. Another bizarre moment. This was after I had been to the attorneys and made sure that he got willed the house. Very strange.
The first experience helped me prepare for the second. Isaiah 32:8 But generous people plan to do what is generous, and they stand firm in their generosity. 33:8 Be our strong arm each day and our salvation in times of trouble."
While my brother was choking me, I felt like you can't really hurt me, for I have Jesus. My other brother came running to my rescue.
Becky or Roger are right, these 2 people must be really wounded to do this. I will pray that God comfort and heal their wounds. I also, ask that God show me my part in these weird situations. Go forward! Wa Hoo! Thank you Becky you were used today by God!!!!

  3. Robbie, thanks for sharing that. God really protected and looked out for you. What an example for this day's devotion.

I'm so glad I have this group to be reading along with as well. I dont know about everyone else, but sometimes I just go around gushing about the group and all we are sharing and learning. I'm not quite sure everyone gets it (what kind of group is she in???) but I can't help it. This group is a huge blessing.

  4. Laura I am with you. At least once a week, I will be excited over reading something in the bible that is in direct application to my prayers. I want to tell somebody and when I do I sometimes get strange reactions. But..... we get to share here and experience others and their God moments. Love this group!!!!!!!! So far the experience that stands out is Becky getting to see the bride before going on to heaven. God wants to speak to us and how nice that we have the bible. What a privilege!

  6. Well, Satan succeeded in distracting me from listening to the call yesterday morning like I usually do. I would have maybe been prepared for my daughter’s phone call and could have seen it was a little thing and just have let it go. Satan knows my weakness and of course his desire is to bring confusion to our relationship because we may just be getting to close to healing so he caused misinterpretation of words, actions and intentions. This is where I need to remember that I am not at war with her but the enemy. She has said some very hurtful words to me in the last week, but I have to draw my strength from God and continue going forward and not look to the right or to the left.
At this point in our relationship (if it is that at all) do I take her calls or not? And if I do, do I say anything or just partially listen so when she says something hurtful it just goes as if unsaid? It seems she always has just the right thing to say that will upset me and I give into the flesh when I should have just let it go.
I am very thankful for this group. I talk it about it at Bible study. I am not sure what they think either, but it is a great source of comfort and wisdom for me during this difficult time. I have enjoyed reading through the Bible this year and hearing how God is speaking to you.
    God’s blessings on your week.

  7. I am very thankful for this group also, and I am often amazed at how the passages that we are reading in the CYL Bible, Becky's messages to us, and other words, situations, etc., all seem to combine to help us see God at work in the world today.

Today our pastor was away, having left to attend the funeral of a relative in Indiana, and in his place a member of our congregation delivered an incredibly powerful message that ties in so well with what we've been reading this week. He began with very real world examples of the pain and suffering and conflicts that people around the globe have experienced at the hands of man and nature and spoke of our very limited understanding of a great and loving God. Instead of beginning with a scriptural passage, he saved for last a very beautiful, reassuring passage from Isaiah, beginning with 55:6 ("Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near . . . ") and continuing to the part where the Lord speaks of sending out his word, watching it "produce fruit" and seeing it "accomplish all [He] wants it to." Then the Lord says, "You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills will burst into song, and the trees of the field will clap their hands!" What reassurance for all of us!

Lorraine, I know how much you are suffering right now, and I pray that God will speak to your daughter’s heart and help her see the situation with new eyes. I also pray that He gives you strength and wisdom and just the right words to say when she calls again. I don’t know if you’ve heard the contemporary Christian song “Blessings,” by Laura Story, but it touches me every time I hear it on the radio. It ends with these thoughts: "What if Your blessings come through raindrops?
What if Your healing comes through tears?
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
are what it takes to know You’re near?
 What if my greatest disappointments
or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy?
And what if trials of this life--
the rain, the storms, the hardest nights--
are Your mercies in disguise?"

May each one in this group sense God’s nearness in a very special way this week!

  8. Oh my gosh, I can't believe how in sync we are. Lorraine, I thought of you on Saturday when my college son came home and said he can't do life anymore. His college campus had a program exhibit on suicide called the Silence Packing where they put 1,000 backpacks on a grassy knoll representing college kids who died because they kept silent. He arrived Saturday morning and by the time he left Saturday evening he had been transformed. He isn't cured by any means but he is seeking help and better. He had his tutor meet him at the house and while they were studying I was in the other room praying. When he was finished my son said to me you were praying for me weren't you? I could feel this peace come over me. He also said something I felt of value he said, thanks Mom for just listening and not telling me what to do. I could see he was on edge and needed to have someone draw him out and encourage him. I had over slept Saturday morning and had not read Sept 24th's reading. The balm that came over me was soothing to the soul. I prayed for Lorraine as my son's pain brought to mind the pain you feel with your daughter. I prayed for refreshment Isaiah 43:20 Yes, I will make rivers in the dry wasteland so my chosen people can be refreshed. I prayed that God's holy spirit would wash over Kirk. Is 44:3 For I will pour out water to quench your thirst and to irrigate your parched fields and I will pour out my Spirit on your descendants, and my blessing on your children. They will thrive like watered grass.
My son is navigating life in uncharted territories. Ephesians 3:14

  9. I am so amazed at how God's word comes to us as encouragement and hope and peace and direction. I am also amazed how God has knit our hearts and lives together through His word and our circumstances. I love you all:) B (Note: this week's call is on FRIDAY at Noon PST.)

  10. 14 When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. Eph 3:14-18
    Prayer is the answer!!!!!
I will trust in God and his mercies.
Then in church today, these 2 ladies sang this song that I thought I am writing down some of these words so I can google and find out who sings this song. It meets me right where I am. What if your healing comes through tears? Wanda, it gives me goosebumps that you would write about the song I wrote the words to this morning in church.
Thank you, all of you, for your inspiration, prayers, stories God wants to wrap his arms around us and give us peace, joy, love and yes sometimes long suffering. God bless you all.
