Let Jesus Talk to You...

One of my favorite ways to read the New Testament, especially in the early half of the year, is to place myself in the story with Jesus and the disciples. I'm either sitting on the hillside, walking, eating, in a boat, or at an event.

When Jesus speaks, I listen:)! How about you. In this week's call, I'm going to cover Luke 6:39-49. It is an inspiring message by Jesus, the Teacher (and Savior and Son of God).

Be encouraged to read as He speaks to you!

  1. 7 out of 7 woot woot...I have read every day.
I was talking with Becky and she asked me if I was looking for God to speak to my specific situation as I read. We prayed a prayer together that was so specific...it got me thinking about my own prayers...so I have changed things out. I now have a prayer page for each item. I read through my daily reading asking God to help me see what I need to see...I take notes...then, I wander through my prayer pages with my notes...it is amazing. I am now better able to see God's presence in some of my bigger prayers that are prayed over and over.
But specifically, this week at Bible study while working on John and the stoning of the adulterous woman, someone brought us to acts 13: 38 and 39. I have been feeling like an adulterous woman as I have had to deal with abuse in my marriage. Yet these words, spoken in the middle of our meeting spoke to me so deeply I almost had to leave. God speaking to me. To me and reminding me to be refreshed each day by the thought that each day is a new chance to live right with God.

  3. What a wonderful expression of your faith and God's faithfulness, Paige. How I want--and NEED!--to get back on track these days. Although I have been reading daily, I admit to rushing through again these last few weeks and not taking time for that wonderful two-way communication that is available to each of us.

The Lord clearly tells us that if we seek, we will find; if we ask, He will answer; if we knock, the door will open. As your last line so eloquently reminds us, if we thirst for Him, he promises to satisfy that thirst, to "refresh" us daily. Oh, how we all need to remember that!

Even though my college program has ended, I still don't seem to have enough hours to keep up with the demands of my 180+ students. Day after day I try to get by on way too little sleep, and now that the third quarter has ended (today!), parents and students are checking the online grades every few minutes and calling in between to check on the latest status and/or asking when the student can "redo" tests, quizzes, etc. I am just exhausted! Tomorrow, however, is a new day, a new month, a "new chance to live right with God." I am so grateful for that!

  6. 7 for 7 again. It has been a busy week, but I managed to make time to read God's word to me. Thank you Paige for you sharing your heart with us. I have been rushing through some of my readings due to a lack of time, but am hoping that I can get back into my usual routine and spend time praying and listening to God speak to me through his Word. Have a blessed week everyone.

  7. Week 13: 7 of 7 and 91 of 91

Thank you all for sharing! With God's guidance and through the support of our group we will have a great year.

The words of Luke 6:40 speak very clearly to me this week as I help to prepare students for an academic contest.

Continue to have a blessed year!
