Peter Marshall, former Chaplain of the US Senate, said that whenever he talked to and listened to God, he would get his "marching orders from the Captain."
This week's OT reading regarding David reminded me that God does not always work in the same way with us. During two different battles with the same people, God instructed David differently (II Sam 5:22-25).
This is a good lesson for all of us. We need a fresh wind of counsel from the Holy Spirit every time we enter in a battle or face a decision. We need to ask God, "What would you have me to do today."

Great call. I like the take away from today's passage in 2 Samuel. One has to love that David was in the "habit" of asking God for direction.
ReplyDeleteMy son has just come home from college with no direction for the summer. His room is full of his college dorm stuff. He is feeling lost and I can see depression lurking in the sidelines. This morning in my reading and prayer God seemed to tell me to use the tips I was learning with Becky to impart with my son. Today's call is perfect for me helping him get on track for a lifetime let alone a summer. Again, thanks Becky and todays reading for insights on living out God's word in our lives.
