The Name of Jesus...

Especially at this time of year, the name of Jesus is shared more often, lifted more often, discussed more often...and yet, the focus is often on his miraculous birth rather than his powerful life.  The following verses in I John give us not only the "reason for the season," but they remind us Who we have when we call Jesus our Lord:

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ[a] has become a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children, too. 2We know we love God’s children if we love God and obey his commandments. 3 Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. 4 For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. 5And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.

    A praise...we could have had a terrible fire here.
    An outlet in our wood paneled den caught fire this morning. Praise God we got the power turned off and it went out, but our wood wall was very very hot. We rarely use the outlet, but plug a fireplace blower into it when we burn the fireplace. We are so lucky that we didnt have a fire.
    The man who came gave us a huge price break on the repair, and was very quick to get here.
    Thank you God, that is all I can say.

    The sermon series this month is "Christ Came - Who is he? They have been wonderful sermons to remind us who Jesus is and why he came!
