The book of Acts fires me up! I love to read about the radical activity of the early church! That the believers were empowered to preach or heal and that many were saved because of the presence of the Holy Spirit in their lives reminds us that we can live the same boldness!
How do the opening chapters of the book of Acts make you feel? How does this record impact your faith? What do the readings give you courage to do?
Please post!
Be encouraged,
Becky

Reading Acts gives me courage to believe that God is always with me. When things get tough, I will not be shaken for my Lord is right beside me. (Acts 2:21) This week I called on the Holy Spirit to empower me to do his will to speak boldly for our Lord. I was walking on the boardwalk in Newport Beach when I came across a house with a little mailbox that read "need prayer, put your request on a card and I will pray for you" Acts gives me courage to dream big and explore the areas God is not finished with me. Seeing that prayer request card gives me ideas for my own neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteWell said, Robbie.
ReplyDeleteWanda, welcome back. Sure have missed you.
DeleteWelcome back Wanda! We have missed you!
ReplyDeleteWell, like I said, I was doing the Acts study at BSF for the fourth time, this past Fall when I dropped out due to the ummm, leader I disagreed with on prayer.
Anyway, it was very oriented to Pauls journeys and the historical implications of the Jerusalem council etc.
So am trying to read from more a devotional standpoint this time around. I do think there is a huge thread running through, of the Holy Spirit's power, guidance and direction. Now to apply the reading this time around to my life in a more personal way.......
Courage? To believe that God is who he says HE is and trust him with my life. I don't know anyone who doesn't have challenges. Fear gripped me earlier this week, didn't know it was fear just felt challenged and down. This is pretty rare for me, not a person with highs and lows very even temperament. The call got me thinking and PRAYING for God to lift the fear and trust him with the results.
ReplyDeleteMy fear was with my son, that he was going backwards instead of forwards. So I upped my prayers. Well, his tutor said this was his best week. I thought to myself: thank you Lord for listening. However, it was more than that it was being resolved that God is in charge and I can trust him to take care of my son. God gave me courage to believe. He also gave me insights. Fear and Worry don't help anything they only rob you of the joy that God can give.
I got a prayer request from a Mom who's daughter went to Kindergarden with my son. The girl is graduating from Berkeley with honors and has major health issues that they can't figure out.
Who knows how long my son has to go in college and if he will graduate. See all of that doesn't matter, it is their relationship with the living God that matters most. Don't compare: PRAY for COURAGE to live a life that brings honor and glory to God every day and every minute. I am praying for that girls health but more importantly I am praying for her soul.
